I’ve often written about my dear friend, artist David Edward Byrd, and how integral his association with the documentary has been. He and Richard Amsel were very close friends, and over the years I must have filmed several hours’ worth of interviews with him. (He’s likely going to be the leading star of the film!)
Here’s some exciting news: David will be doing a special author signing of his book, Poster Child: The Psychedelic Art & Technicolor Life of David Edward Byrd, at The Society of Illustrators in NYC this Thursday, February 1, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.
While David’s already done a number of book signings in the Los Angeles area, the Society of Illustrators event will likely be his only signing in New York.
This will be a ticketed event ($15 general, $10 members, $7 seniors/students). If you’re lucky enough to go, please tell David that Adam sent ya!
If you can’t go? Don’t worry – the book is available through leading online and in-store book sellers. (Though I recommend purchasing it directly through the publisher’s site.)
And as a special fundraising promotion for the Amsel documentary, whoever makes the largest donation through February 29th will receive a special signed copy of David’s book, along with other perks! Be sure to check out our Donte/Contribute page for more info.
