I'm very sad to learn this morning of the passing of JERRY ALTEN. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends.
I interviewed Jerry just last summer about his experiences at TV GUIDE, working with Richard Amsel, and the details about the Amsel collection currently held at the University of the Arts.
One can not overstate Alten's contribution to the success and enduring popularity of the weekly magazine. He was the visionary who hired the world's top illustrators to create its covers, 37 of which were Amsel's.
Jerry and his wife, Roberta d'Eustachio, were so kind and gracious to me. I feel privileged to have met them, and shall be forever grateful for Jerry's support of the project.
