WORLD AIDS DAY

Today marks yet another WORLD AIDS DAY, where we commemorate those lost to AIDS, as well as support the many people still struggling to survive with the disease. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day.

As our world faces the current pandemic of COVID-19, where roughly 1.5 million people have already died, it seems baffling that we should still find so much willful ignorance, indifference, arrogance, and political hubris in the face of such disaster. They have not only exacerbated the medical establishment's legitimate attempts to curb the spread, but have significantly contributed to the mounting death toll.

History provides us with little comfort, as we've faced pandemics before in such fashion. How reckless...and how slow we are to learn.

Last year, we handed in a panel in Richard Amsel's memory for inclusion within the AIDS Memorial Quilt. I'm told that it has yet to be photographed for the online digital archive, so that it could be viewed on the memorial quilt's official site, I'm told this could take a few more months.
